Who can list
- A real business. Trading now, or launching soon with a name, a way to reach you and something to offer. Sole traders, partnerships, companies, co-operatives and social enterprises are all welcome, online or in person, anywhere in the world.
- Muslim-owned. At least one owner is Muslim and confirms it when listing. This is self-attested. We never ask for proof of faith, and our staff do not judge anyone’s religiosity. If you have a concern, report the listing and a moderator will speak to the owner.
- Listed by someone who can. The owner, or a person they have authorised to manage the listing.
What we don’t list
We don’t list businesses whose core products or services are:
- alcohol, or pork and pork products;
- gambling, betting or lotteries;
- interest-based lending (riba), payday loans or debt schemes;
- adult content or services;
- tobacco, vapes or recreational drugs;
- weapons, except licensed sporting or safety equipment;
- pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes, or “get rich quick” offers;
- anything illegal where the business operates.
“Core” matters. A restaurant isn’t excluded because a nearby shop sells alcohol, and an addiction counsellor who helps people stop gambling is very welcome. If you’re unsure, ask us before you list at hello@muslimentrepreneurs.space.
What a listing should say
- Describe the business plainly and accurately: what you do, where, for whom.
- Choose the category that fits best, not the busiest one.
- Use your own photos, or ones you have permission to use. No stock photos of people pretending to be your team.
- No keyword stuffing, competitor names, misleading claims or fake urgency.
- No more than a few links in your description; your website and social links have their own fields.
- Only claim halal certification, awards or memberships you actually hold, and name the certifier.
- Nothing hateful, sectarian, sexual or violent, and no attacks on other businesses or groups.
- Custom code sections must not ask visitors for passwords, sign-in codes or card details, or imitate our sign-in or any other part of this site. Images in them must be ones you upload here. We remove sections that break this rule, and may suspend the listing.
How review works
A person reviews every new listing, usually within two working days. Before they look, automatic checks flag things worth a second glance: a website that doesn’t load or is parked, a possible duplicate nearby, spam-like text. These are prompts for the reviewer, never automatic rejections.
The reviewer checks four things:
- Is it a real business?
- Is the category right?
- Does the content follow these guidelines?
- Is the Muslim-owned attestation present?
Then they approve it, ask you for changes (with a note saying what to fix), merge it with an existing listing of the same business, or decline it with a reason. You’ll get an email either way.
Once you’re live, most edits appear straight away. Changing the business name, website or main category, or adding a custom code section, sends the listing back for a quick re-review while your page stays up.
Badges
- Muslim-owned: the owner’s own statement, shown as such.
- Verified: our team confirmed the business exists and that the listing’s manager runs it (for example by phone or a company registration check). Valid for two years.
- Halal certified: the owner names the certifier. We link to the certifier’s own lookup where one exists. We don’t certify businesses.
Stories and community
- Stories are written with the people in them. Nobody is featured without agreeing to it, and subjects see the story before it’s published.
- Disagree with ideas, not people. Sectarian arguments, takfir and personal attacks have no place here.
- Don’t share anyone’s personal details, and respect people who choose to keep their profile private.
Reporting a problem
Every business, story and profile has a “Report” link. Choose a reason, add details if you can, and send it. You don’t need an account, and the owner is never told who reported them.
Reports go to the moderation queue. If several different people report a page as spam or a scam, it is hidden until a moderator has looked. We tell owners when a report leads to a change on their listing.
